The Mr. Pacman Acropora is a thin branched Acropora that resembles the shape and structure of the Tyree Red Dragon. It’s branches range in color from reddish pink to purple and it’s tips exhibit a greenish/yellowish tint. It also has smooth skin, a low density of polyps and delicate, open branches. Given it\’s smooth skin, caution should be used when dipping it to prevent pests such as Red Bugs or AEFW.
According to reeffarmers.com, this deepwater acro was exported from Indonesia in 2011. Similar to other deepwater SPS, it prefers lower light and will do fine near the bottom of a tank under metal halides, T5s or LEDs.
The Mr. Pacman Acropora does not need to be blasted with current so low flow is fine. Proper calcium (400-440 ppm), alkalinity (8-9 dkh) and magnesium levels (1300-1400 ppm) should be maintained to help this coral thrive. Overall, this coral stands out due to its unusual growth pattern and beautiful colors, making it a worthwhile edition to any reef tank. A must have for a deepwater acro lover!
