Well, all good things come to those who wait and unfortunately the wait will be a bit longer for those who pre-ordered GHL’s ION Director. The much anticipated ION Director will allow reef keepers to monitor and control Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Sodium, and Nitrate. The ION Director will compliment GHL’s KH Director, which monitors and controls alkalinity.
The first shipment of ION Directors was due to arrive in the U.S. from Germany this month but COVID-19 has pushed delivery back to this fall. The main reason for the delay is related to a shortage of raw materials and delivery delays for the multi-ion sensor, a key part.
But there is some good news…..
ION Director Enhancements
Since delivery of a key part was already going to be pushed back, GHL decided to further extend the IOND launch to include some product enhancements:
- Only 3 instead of 4 dosing pumps are needed for the measurement. The existing fourth pump of the GHL Doser can be used for any other purpose.
- Reference consumption has been cut in half, thereby reducing operating costs. Approximately 5 mls are only needed now versus 10 mls per measurement and reference.
- Aquarium water is not consumed. The complete water sample can be returned to the aquarium.
- The measurement is now super fast – currently less than 10 minutes are needed for the complete measurement process.
GHL will provide its current pre-order customers with a small thank you for their patience and support by adding some reference solutions to their orders. This also applies to orders placed via retailers.
Customers who would like to be on the list to receive an ION Director can do so by pre-ordering a unit.
