Minimalistic aquascapes are very popular today and my plan with this tank was to go light on the rock to provide corals a lot of room to grow.
Less is better when it comes to aquascaping a reef tank. A more open aquascape will provide room for corals to grow and maximize circulation.
For my new 187 gallon tank I decided to aquascape it with Marco Rocks dry rock. I did a mock-up of the aquascape outside of the tank..

Does it make sense to tear down a thriving reef tank? On the surface it would seem to be a foolish move but a tank with too much coral growth can spell trouble.
